As a grandmother and storyteller, nothing brings me more joy than weaving tales for the little ones in my life. I wrote the first story for my grandson to help foster a love of reading by using him as a character and to teach him lessons he struggles with learning in an engaging way.
While I was working on that story, my heart swelled again with joy when I found out that my oldest daughter who has struggled to conceive was finally expecting her very first child—a little girl. I immediately knew that she, too, deserved a book created just for her, one that would welcome her into our family and introduce her to the magic of bedtime stories.
And so, Luna’s Lullabies and Dreams was born. Luna, my gentle little owl, became the center of this new bedtime tale—a sweet and comforting friend to guide my granddaughter into dreamland and remind her, even before she’s born, how deeply she’s loved.
I hope that, snuggled up in her nursery, she’ll grow to cherish stories as much as I do. Beyond that, my dream is for every one of my grandchild—now and in the future—to feel the magic of books written especially for them. Whether at bedtime or during a quiet afternoon, I hope these stories nurture their imagination and inspire a lifelong love of reading.
This book isn’t just for my soon-to-arrive granddaughter; it’s the beginning of a family tradition. I look forward to writing many more stories that bring our family together across bedtime routines, generations, and years. With every story, I want each grandchild to know: “You are cherished, and my love for you is written on every page.”
